4th Feb ’04 – ‘the Facebook’ launches at Harvard University; Mark Zuckerberg drops out soon after and moves the operation to Silicon Valley.
November’ 05 – Zuckerberg shows his business card to a fortune reporter.
6TH Sept’ 06 – Facebook adds a News Feed that shows a stream of posts from a person’s entire network of friends. A privacy debacle ensues, and Zuckerberg apologises with a blog post titled “Calm down. Breathe .We hear you.”
2nd June’ 10 – Zuckerberg is grilled about privacy at the D8 tech conference. He sweats so profusely that he has to take off his hoodie.
July’11 – Facebook moves into its new home, former campus of Sun Microsystems.
April ‘ 12 – Facebook Snaps up Instagram- The acquisition sets the stage for a strategic shift away from Zuckerberg’s long – standing one-social- network- fits – all approach.
May’12-December’13 – Mobile Transition- Facebook’s IPO on May 18, 2012, reveals a serious flaw: The co. wasn’t earning any money on smartphone apps. Despite a late start, it improves its mobile apps and develops online ad business over the ensuing year.
4th Feb ‘14 – Facebook is 10 yrs. old!
